Here is another form of resist, candle wax. Simply light a cheap candle, you want it to drip, and drip dots of wax over a fabric. keep dripping and shaking the candle for small to tiny drops. Pretty easy so far, right?
Now dunk the whole business into some ESF Colorant with a dab of Fabric Magic. Hang to dry.

Once dry press with paper towels underneath and on top to protect your iron. This removes the wax. Now you have cute little circles showing of the base fabric. This one is a bit light because its going to be for a winter background.

Here are a couple of freezer paper monoprints. I had planned to do gelatin prints but with temps over 100 I decided to do the freezer paper which gives a different but unique look. When doing a technique like this I often use a frame to isolate a section. These will both be backgrounds with additional layers added as Beth and I work back and forth. I plan to send her 3 different monoprints to choose from for the summer season. Next how a candle is used for the winter background.
The wondrous Beth Wheeler and I are going to work on a 4 seasons collaborative project and post as we go. We are starting with plain white muslin and will do a layer then pass on to the other to add another layer of design. I am starting the winter and summer panels so Beth is doing the fall and spring. As we work we will explain each of the techniques we are using. My first layer for winter is going to be bubble printing and I think a monoprint for summer. I was going to do a gelatin monoprint but it is too hot here right now so think I will be using freezer paper. Photos tomorrow!
